On Valentine’s Day 2024, Donald Zepeda and Kroegeor Green threw red powder over the case that contains the US Constitution in the atrium of the National Archives in Washington DC. They were sentenced for “destroying government property,” even though they caused no permanent damage to the building, the document or any person.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced Donald Zepeda to 2 years in federal prison and ordered him and Kroegeor to pay $58,000 each in restitution.
He was released from federal prison October 6, and now resides in a halfway house.
In Donald’s sentencing statement, he spoke eloquently about his actions:
“If we value the well-being of a nation that has taken hundreds of years to build, we will act accordingly. Or, we continue … trashing the Constitution and the hopes and dreams of ourselves and our ancestors,” said Donald Zepeda.
