Ordinary People Acting Heroically (OPAH) Justice is a volunteer run nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial support, with love and care, to people who have been imprisoned for nonviolent attempts to save life on Earth. We help our friends to survive and thrive while in prison, and healthfully adjust to life outside when released.
Our values
- We believe our leaders are betraying us by allowing big oil, gas and finance to continue to dump deadly pollution into our air, onto our land, into our water.
- We believe our justice system is broken when nonviolent activists are burdened with long sentences in prison while oil, gas and finance executives who are destroying the Earth are free.
- We believe our justice system preys on the poor of all races, and disproportionately on non-White folks.
- We believe imprisoned people have a right to necessities – food, hygiene products, clothes, medicine and communication with the outside world.
- We believe that ordinary people, acting as donors, volunteers and activists, can make a difference in the lives of imprisoned friends and their loved ones.
- We believe that profiting off imprisoned people is immoral.
